Several years ago I discovered the joy of promoting fair trade and the satisfaction of supporting diverse groups of artisans from remote and sometimes forgotten parts of the world. Now my passion is to share that joy. Please join me because once you shop fair trade, you will never cease to enjoy all the products today and the days to come.

The One Eyed Turtle is always looking for the unusual and the affordable merchandise for all members of the family. Please do not hesitate to go to the contact page and ask any questions. Simply stated Fair Trade encourages sustainability, gender equality, decent and fair wages according to the location of the artisans, kindness to the environment, no sweatshops and most importantly education for the children. In some areas clean drinking water and good food are luxuries, a goal most of the workers have. In Fair Trade workshops the areas must be clean and safe, no children are allowed to work. Some of the mothers bring the work home to be with the family. The children go to school, often the first in the family to do so.

The artisans are delighted to have employment and in most of the photos that you will see on the site they are smiling, thrilled to share their accomplishments and good workmanship.

Every month The One Eyed Turtle will showcase some special items. Also note the featured items to the right and sale items. As new discoveries are made they will be added as always with a complete description and with information, for most items, of the artisan group or individual who has produced the product.

There's something special about using an item when you know that the money for that item went to support an organization that is working toward a living wage for everyone.
